Sliderobes was founded in 1983, by the current Chairman, Michael McAleese, and Brian Devlin, who identified the huge potential market for fitted wardrobes in Ireland. A successful operation was founded in Dublin in 1983, with a second opening in Belfast some months later. Brian moved to London in 1988 and currently runs the very successful Sliderobes business in Kent.
The foundations of the company were built on strong, but simple, principles and ethics which Mick and Brian put in place in 1983 in Dublin. The two key principles of employing nice people and doing right by, and doing our best for, our customers still guide everything we do, and when translated into the way we do business it means things like:
- No hard selling, no cold calling, ever.
- No bad designs, walk away if the product doesn’t suit.
- Be punctual at all times.
- Strive to get every installation right first time every time for the customer, and if you can’t fix it as quickly as possible.
- Always look and be professional.
Since 1983 we have expanded the business slowly but surely, and we now operate a mixture of wholly owned stores and franchised stores throughout the UK and Ireland. All our businesses operate to strict targets and standards to deliver great customer service and value for money, and we are proud that all our sites are accredited with the ISO 9001:2008 quality management award, which demonstrates our commitment to delivering a quality product and service and to continually striving to improve everything we do.
